Here we have a BIG Omega manual wind from the early 1950’s with its original finish dial and hands. The dial features applied hour markers and Arabic numbers, and Omega logo. The case is stainless steel and measures 36 mm w/o the crown and is a screw-back design. The movement is Omega’s in-house caliber 283, featuring 16 Jewels and center sweep second. We have just completed a full service on this watch. That service included a full movement overall. During reassembly, we installed a new mainspring, a signed Omega crown and a correct fitting crystal. We cleaned the case only. No refinishing was done. Lastly we installed a new “vintage” brown leather strap. We love pieces from this period. Even better when from a great maker. They are built like tanks, and have a wonderful vintage look. Also, when serviced properly, they will keep very good time even by today’s standards.
