Rolex Explorer II White Dial
This C-1991 white dial Rolex Explorer II (ref. 16570) is in outstanding condition for its age. It is an original and genuine Rolex and features one of the nicest dial and hand combinations you are likely to see in this vintage. The Tritium luminous on both has aged to a light cream color. It looks wonderful in person.
The watch also features Rolex’s chronometer grade 31 jewel movement, the cal. 3185 with the quickset date and automatic winding. This one features an independent 24-hour hand (red) for setting a second-time zone. The 40 mm stainless steel case has all the correct markings. It comes on its original, fully signed Rolex stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet. Overall condition is very good with minimal signs of wear.
The watch has been correctly serviced and the case and bracelet refinished to match their original appearance. All new gaskets were installed and the mainspring and casetube was replaced. We also installed a new sapphire crystal and finally, we tracked down a “NOS” bezel. If you are thinking of purchasing one of these, please inspect the bezel closely. Nearly everyone I’ve seen over the years has issues with its bezel. The last thing we did was to perform a water resistant test (both vacuum and pressure) on the watch to ensure the case is sealed. The watch passed both and is ready to wear and enjoy! This complete service would cost $750 in our shop.
We do not do production work or wholesale watch repairs. For over 28 years Pieces Of Time has specialized in the proper service and restoration of better grade mechanical watches.
