Junghan’s Olympic Valjoux 7734 C-1972
Junghans Olympic “BULL HEAD”
All original, untouched condition on this Junghan’s Olympic, produced especially for the 1972 Olympics in West Germany. See the second photo for some information on this timepiece straight from Junghans’ website.
This one features a HEFTY stainless steel case measures 43.3m at its narrowest point (without the crown or pushers) and 46mm at its widest. Not only does it have a very cool oblong shape, but it also features its original sunburst finish around the bezel. The case slopes up towards 12 o’clock, made to be very easy to see on your wrist. The only real signs of wear that we can spot are some wear to the plating on the crown/pushers and a couple of light scratching on the original glass crystal. All a part of this watch’s history.
The dial features a slate gray sunburst background with orange subdials and orange rotating inner bezel. Contrasting original white hands top it all off. Wonderful, all original condition!
Powering the watch is a Valjoux 7734, 17-jewel movement. From when Valjoux was actually Valjoux (before they were purchased by ETA)! It comes fully serviced including a new caseback gasket, and is keeping excellent time! All chronograph functions are working perfectly (start, stop, and flyback).
We paired the watch with a leather sport strap with orange contrast stitching and orange rubber backing.
my wrist. For reference, I am 5ft 9in, 160lbs). With curved, sweeping lugs, this V&C has a very elegant look.
The watch also features a wonderful matte silver dial. It’s accented with applied, high polish gold stick hour markers and matching gold stick hands.
Powered by a V&C signed, caliber 1303 movement with 17 jewels and manual winding; marked “Adjusted to Heat Cold Isochronism and Five (5) Positions”. Kept ultra thin by excluding shock protection over the escape wheel – 1.64mm thick, to be exact. Making it better still, this movement is stamped with the Geneva Seal.
“Geneva Seal – means made within the Geneva Canton. The Geneva Seal is the official seal of the City and Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. The Geneva seal in watchmaking is a certification reserved for wristwatch movements made in the City (or Canton) of Geneva. Although it is concerned mainly with the finishing and decoration of the watch movement, it is considered one of the highest accolades in the industry.”
The watch comes fully serviced and running well. It winds and sets smoothly and is keeping very time. We paired it with our very best watch strap, handmade of genuine Louisiana Alligator. This is a timepiece to treasure for many years to come.
When we were researching the watch we found these old advertisements someone had posted. See the last three photos at the end. It’s always nice to have a little history!
