Hamilton Winthrop w/ Two Tone Dial
Here we have a great looking Hamilton “Winthrop” from the 1940’s with a wonderful 2-tone dial. The dial background is a deep gold, almost bronze color with bold Art Deco style Arabic hour markers. Surrounding the dial is a railroad track border with a copper background that matches the subseconds register at 6 o’clock.
The watch is housed in a 14K yellow gold-filled case that measures 21.2mm across without the crown, and 42mm from lug tip to lug tip. The case extends with rounded, stepped lugs at 12 and 6. Wonderful condition given it’s right around 70 years old! Under the dial is an American made Hamilton caliber 982 manual wind movement with 19 jewels.
The watch comes recently serviced including a brand new, custom made glass crystal. It’s running well and keeping very good time. During service, we completely disassembled the case and lightly refinished it before ultrasonically cleaning it. It paired perfectly with a matte black, genuine pigskin strap.
