Waltham 12-Size Hunter Pocketwatch C-1899
Here we have a C-1899 Waltham hunter-style pocketwatch in wonderful condition. The gold-filled Philadelphia Watch Case Co. hunter case is a 12-size and features some outstanding details throughout. Both the front and back of the case have an engine-turned finish. The monogram crest on the front has never been engraved. At more than 120 years old, the case looks amazing. Wonderful condition with a bright gold finish and great details. Finally, have a look at that stepped bezel. This watch has seen very little use.
The signed porcelain dial is in excellent condition, as is the matching blued steel hands. The watch is powered by an American made Waltham movement with beautiful damasked finishing to the plates. The watch comes fully serviced. It will be running as it should and keeping very good time.
This one would make a great carrying piece!
*Photos are of the watch in its current, unrestored state.
The price includes full restoration and repair. The work will be performed after purchase. This entails proper service of the movement, a new mainspring, and anything else that would be necessary to bring the watch into proper working order. Case cleaning and refinishing are also included. The extent of case refinishing, if any will be left up to the new owner.
Once you’ve made your purchase, please contact us so we may discuss the restoration and case refinishing.
Please allow 1-2 weeks after purchase for service to be completed.
Our goal is to achieve what we refer to as “Sympathetic Restoration”; in other words, bringing the watch back as close as possible to its original appearance without the need to remove all signs of its former life. We don’t want to dramatically change its history.
During the restoration, we only use period-correct parts, and in most cases, genuine factory parts from the same time period as the watch.
