Vacheron & Constantin Corps Of Engineers Chronograph, USA C-1918
We just finished a complete restoration of this very fine and rare timepiece. It is a Vacheron & Constantin pocket watch chronograph made for the Corps of Engineers USA in 1918. This chronograph pocket watch is original and triple signed (case, dial, and movement). The original enamel dial is perfect with no hairlines or chips. In fact, everything about this watch is correct and in original condition. The only thing missing is the radium luminous in the hands and on Arabic numerals on the dial. I’m not sure you would want that anyway, besides I think it looks great without. The 52 mm unpolished case is .900 solid silver and shows wonderful, even patina. A look that can only be achieved with time.
Please take a look at the dial. It is signed “Vacheron & Constantin Geneve Corps Of Engineers USA”. The case is also signed “Corps Of Engineers U.S.A. No 1616”. When we received this watch is had a replacement plastic crystal so during service we installed a correct glass one. Just like the watch would of had back 102 years ago. The movement is a V&C Geneve made in nickel finish with a swan’s neck micrometer regulator.
Fully restored, this watch is running as it should, keeping good time and the chronograph functions smoothly. The chronograph is a 60-second timer.
Rare to find fully serviced and in this original condition. We even installed a correct period genuine Glass crystal during the service. The overall condition is Outstanding!
