A great find from 1883, 138 Years Old! Waltham 18s Broadway grade Key-wind & key set PW is housed in a wonderful silver case from the same period. The 7 jewel movement is in very good condition. It is completely original including its key guide. This one hits all the notes: A heavy Coin Silver case, very solidly made. Its hinges are all nice and tight. It also features a hinged bezel with a period-correct glass crystal (hinged for accessing the center square to set the time). The American-made case is stamped “Waranteed Coin Silver” inside the lid and caseback. The button that releases the front cover does have some wear to it. Both the catch and lift spring function correctly – pretty rare to have both working this well at this age! The case has not been polished in probably a few of generation and has plenty of rich patina. It is best to keep it that way!

It features a very nice looking unsigned porcelain dial with Roman numerals. This was the correct style for the period and it is in very nice condition. The hands are original blued steel and are also correct for the time period also. A very nice example of an early Waltham timepiece. It also comes with a period winding key.
