Very rarely seen this Two-Tone Waltham 18s. The full plate movement has a gold center with gold screws, gold regulator, gold jewel setting, and gold lettering. The way it is signed is pretty rare in itself. It states “ADJUSTED TO TEMPERATURE AND FOUR POSITIONS”, 17 JEWELS DOUBLE ROLLER, and SAFETY PINION. Of course, it is also signed Waltham Watch Co. Waltham, Mass. Its condition is outstanding, even more so given it is 110 years old.
Now the case. It is a display case with old-time glass crystals front and back. The case is also in great condition and both hinges work as they should and the covers close with a nice “snap”. Waltham 18-Size open face pocketwatch. The watch also features a signed porcelain dial and matched blued steel hands. This watch is a pendent wind and lever set.
Photos are of the watch in its current, unrestored state.
The price includes full restoration and repair. The work will be performed after purchase. This entails proper service of the movement, a new mainspring, and anything else that would be necessary to bring the watch into proper working order. Case cleaning and refinishing are also included. The extent of case refinishing, if any will be left up to the new owner.
Once you’ve made your purchase, please contact us so we may discuss the restoration and case refinishing.
Please allow 1-2 weeks after purchase for service to be completed.
Our goal is to achieve what we refer to as “Sympathetic Restoration”; in other words, bringing the watch back as close as possible to its original appearance without the need to remove all signs of its former life. We don’t want to dramatically change its history.
During the restoration, we only use period-correct parts, and in most cases, genuine factory parts from the same time period as the watch.
