Seth Thomas Watch Co. Model 2 17 jewel 2-Tone Hunter
Wonderful condition on this rarely seen C-1893 Seth Thomas Hunter Case Pocketwatch. Have a look at the beautiful movement. It features 17 jewels and is marked “Adjusted to Temperature & Positions. But what really makes this watch special is the layout of the movement and the way the train gears and escapement are exposed. And then all the work Seth Thomas did designing this movement to make it beautiful to look at as well as function as well as it does. I don’t believe I’ve seen another pocketwatch movement with anywhere near this kind of layout making this one pretty special in American watch design.
Other features of this watch are a double sunk enamel dial and matching blued steel hands and an original glass crystal. The case is a Fay’s Monarch #1 in yellow gold filled and features an engine turned design that is in very nice condition given that it’s over 131 years old.
*Photos are of the watch in its current, unrestored state.
The price includes full restoration and repair. The work will be performed after purchase. This entails proper service of the movement, a new mainspring, and anything else that would be necessary to bring the watch into proper working order. Case cleaning and refinishing are also included. The extent of case refinishing, if any will be left up to the new owner.
Once you’ve made your purchase, please contact us so we may discuss the restoration and case refinishing.
Please allow 1-2 weeks after purchase for service to be completed.
Our goal is to achieve what we refer to as “Sympathetic Restoration”; in other words, bringing the watch back as close as possible to its original appearance without the need to remove all signs of its former life. We don’t want to dramatically change its history.
During the restoration, we only use period-correct parts, and in most cases, genuine factory parts from the same time period as the watch.
