Excellent vintage condition on this Rolex Oyster box set from around the late 1970’s-early 1980s. Traditionally housing sports models like the Submariner, Explorer, and GMT, this box set comes with the original inner and outer boxes.
The inner box measures 5” x 3.9” x 2” and looks great for over thirty years old. The outer green leather is in nice condition with only very minimal signs of wear, and the exterior gold Rolex graphics are bold and sharp. The hinges are still working well, and the box closes with a nice snap. The interior shows some wear to the Rolex graphic (as you’ll see from the photos). The crown has rubbed away, but most of the “Rolex” is still there. The plush lining is in nice shape with no tears or staining.
This one is missing its watch rest/pillow, as are many of the boxes from this era. The thin leather that Rolex used on the pillow dried and cracked over time, and so it’s common for the pillow to have been tossed.
The outer box shows some wear including a split at one at the corners of the lid but is in otherwise great shape for its age. It still has a sticker on it from Lux Bond and Green. A nice way to store your favorite Rolex timepiece.
