Omega Speedmaster C-1968 ref. 145022-68 ST

This watch is completely original and correct. It is the famous “pre-moon” or “Transitional” Speedmaster ref.# 145022-68. This Transitional Speedy was made for just one year (1968) before changing the dial and replacing the caseback with the Moon landing reference. The serial number of 26m puts it squarely in 1968.

It features its original C-1968 Omega dial with “Omega Speedmaster Professional” and features the applied Omega logo and its original hand set. The next year Omega changed the dial. It no longer had the applied logo, but was printed instead. This 145022-68 was the first time using the Calibre 861 movement. The original caseback with the Omega Seahorse and Speedmaster inscription and inner dust cover. The bezel is also original along with the signed Omega crystal. The crown is crisp with the Omega logo. Inside caseback is signed Omega and ref# 145022-68 ST. Overall this is a wonderful example of a very collectible Speedy. The watch shows signs of its past life, but it’s all original and better than expected for a 56 year old sports watch. These early “pre moon” Speedmasters are getting hard to find.

The watch comes recently serviced and is running well and keeping very good time. All chronograph functions work smoothly, as they should. It comes on a new “vintage style” Tan suede strap.
