Omega Seamaster Chronostop, ref# 145.008 C-1968

Here we have an original and seldom seen Omega chronograph. At least this version. This Chronostop features an inner rotating timing bezel which is controlled by the crown at 10:00. Please notice the correct crown (black dot) for controlling the bezel. It is the same style as used in the Omega Flightmaster for controlling its inner bezel. We searched the internet and all Chronostops had replacement crowns. No other had this original crown. The crown at 4:00 is correctly signed Omega. This crown controls the winding of the movement and setting the time. At 2:00 is the chronograph pusher for starting and stopping/resetting the chronograph. This chronograph records up to one minute only. The hefty stainless case measures 41 X 47mm. The movement is the Omega 865 (modified 861). It is manual winding with shock-proofing and 17 jewels.

The watch is in original condition with an original dial and hand set. All in great condition. Amazing condition given the watch is a 56 year old sports watch. Even the crystal is correct with its Omega symbol at its center. As for the case, we cleaned up the finish with a little refinishing returning it to its original look. Our purpose of refinishing is to bring the watch back to its original look as much as possible without removing all signs of its previous life. It’s not about making it look shiny and new, but to make it look right and after some wearing the finish will settle in to become a vintage timepiece with its nice original look.

We just finished the complete service/restoration on this watch including a proper movement service. During service we replaced the mainspring and caseback gasket. The watch is running well and keeping very good time. Lastly, it comes on a vintage inspired black leather strap.
