Omega 861 Movement with Excess Oil
Case Study
This is what a movement looks like when it is over-lubricated. Note the pooling of oil in each of the photos.
This watch was brought to us for repair after a previous watchmaker failed to get the watch to work properly after several attempts.
Upon inspection, the movement was drenched in oil and not functioning correctly. With regards to oil, more is definitely not better! Oil should not be visible to the naked eye if properly applied.
This is an example of work done by someone who is not properly trained, and does not value good workmanship.
There was enough oil in this one movement for maybe 50 watches!!!
